Long time no write.. I've been quite busy lately jigsaw'ing bits of wood out of my front door, buying beds, buying mountain bikes and generally sorting the house out. I still haven't had time to do any pics yet, what with working late at work for a while.
Also in my spending spree, well as a nice gift to myself as I dont often splash on out on tech or things. I rarely buy anything really. I decided it was time I bought a decent mixer which had decent cueing ability and proper outputs for PA's. My goal for 2010, is to start DJ'ing in locals places such as the infamous Fawcett Inn pub, and potentially some other similar places. Anyway here is my lovely new mixer. Allen & Heath Xone:22. Pretty new piece of kit and its lovely!!  My only problem is the bass it kicks out to the headphones is imense, so much so my headphones distort a bit. Next payday looks like I'll be buying some new headphones   I've pretty much got beatbatching and phrasing all knocked on the head with cdj's. Even with my imprecise CDJ 100's. I shall start releasing regular mixes soon as I get more housework out the way. I'm gonna lay down some co-ax cable through walls this weekend, so I dont have to use this terrible wireless router anymore. Week after that I have a full bathroom suite being delivered, so I need to quickly arrange some decent plumbers and decorators too. Busy times indeed! Till next time!

In the ever continuous quest to find cheap decent barbers, I've come across my favourite soo far. Its down on Elm Grove (or Beirut as we call it), and called DLO. They hardly speak English, but the shop is kitted out with lovely leather sofas, and its the quickest 6 pounds I've ever spent in the barbers. No back-chat, no fuss, 6 pounds, done and out! Awesome.
Until I find someone else who does it for 5 pounds or faster, it'll be my new choice for quick man-cuts. Work is mentally hectic at the moment. I suppose thats better than the alternative in these times. Hardly have a chance to do any mixing lately, or even sample new tunes. I do however love the music site www.trackitdown.net. Their music player and dynamic content let me queue up loads of stuff to sample without breaking the player when the page refreshes. Which is nice. On the right you'll see my public playlist from that site, that I'll fill up with amazing trance... ...if I ever find the time to find some

Decided to finally sort out my media playback situation. For quite a while I've relied on lugging my heavy PC into the living room, to hook up to the big plasma for my 24, Lost, Dexter etc, fix. Which was starting to get a little tedious.
Always considered getting a dedicated media player, but there's usually always something stopping me, like no MKV support, No Blu-ray support, or no full 1080p decoding etc.. Enter the Western Digital HD TV device!  Theres quite a buzz on the web about this device, as it supports pretty much every format there is! MKV, H.264, Blu ray, all audio formats too, and its done in such a small quiet cheap box. They are actively updating the firmware and have actually fixed niggles people complained about! The only annoying single drawback is no network. It uses USB, but I plan on getting a USB supported NAS at some point. Unfortunately, just as I sat down on Saturday for a marathon of 24 episodes, the remote died! Gah, I was gutted! Tried 3 sets of batteries, fiddled with it for ages, looked at the IR LED in a variety of cameras. Nothing. Dead as a doornail. Fortunately the good people of Western Digital are dispatching me a new one in the post, so hopefully I should have that soon. Quite pleased they were soo nice on the phone.
Saturday, April 25. 2009Vodka Ice Bar
Was in London the other night. Was Nikki's birthday, so we had a trip up there to buy her a birthday present, and have a change of scenery. Went to the Vodka Ice Bar, just off Regent Street. For those that dont know what this is, its a Vodka bar, with one room at sub 0 temperatures. The Bar, walls, chairs, and glasses are all made of solid ice. You have to don a shiny hooded poncho when you go in, as its soo cold. I decided to see just how cold the ice was, and tested by licking one of the 6 foot high ice chairs!
 Luckily I didn't freeze to it!
